My name is Sally Webster. This blog has been created as part of my 1 Year Introduction to Interior Design and Introduction to Auto CAD course at the Arts University Bournemouth. We have been asked to present some research on specific elements of design in any way we choose. I have chosen to start a blog. I also aim to add to this format and introduce some of my own ideas about design and use my experience doing up my home as examples.
I have always had a ‘thing’ about houses. My mum took me to see ‘showhouses’ at weekends and I would arrange furniture in drawings of houses from an early age. I did a degree in Fine Art Textiles at Manchester Metropolitan University and have been teaching Art and Design in secondary schools since then. I create my own art work and have exhibited. I am always creating something whether it be up cycling furniture, designing my own home or making art work. It always comes back to houses and making a home. Design should be about making life easier and simpler and making your environment work for you.
